The wedding accessories that are the most memorable about any wedding are the exchange of the wedding bands and the wedding dress that the bride wears on that special day.
Everyone admires the wedding bands after the ceremony and the gown and the woman in it capture the attention of everyone attending the ceremony as the bride makes her entrance.
These two very special wedding accessories deserve to be center stage in your wedding preparations.
The Wedding Bands:
Nothing says commitment quite like the wedding band exchange during the ceremony. The bands are just one of the wedding symbols that most couples agree is an essential wedding accessory to have on their special day.
Both the bride and groom should choose the bands so they can both feel comfortable about the choices, as they will be wearing them as symbols of their union for the rest of their lives.
There are many varieties of bands to choose from, traditional, and creative settings that the bride and groom choose to set their bands apart from any other.
Two popular bands are the 14-karat white and the 14 karat gold wedding bands. The gold band is not made entirely of gold metal it is a mixture of alloy including gold, copper and silver.
Other choices for wedding bands are silver and platinum. The platinum band is the heaviest usually. Platinum is considered to be the most precious of all metals, because the white metal shines after it is polished.
Silver metal is soft, so bands made of silver are prone to discoloration and are usually also very inexpensive.
Another consideration besides which metal to choose is how thick the band should be and whether or not the band will have a design on it or be plain.
It is common for couples to choose the same band with the woman’s wedding band being slightly smaller than the man’s but the same type of metal and same design (or plain) as his is. Couples should visit several jewelry stores before settling on bands.
Some couples have their bands engraved. When visiting the jewelry stores if an engraving is desired, the couple should have the selection with them. Sometimes the couple has their initials or symbols, or dedications brandished inside their wedding rings.
To have wedding bands with the ultimate personal touch you can have special custom made bands designed by a jeweler.
The Wedding Gown:
The showpiece for any wedding is the wedding gown. It is what sets the bride apart from every other female at the wedding. It is what identifies her as the bride. The wedding gown is also the wedding symbol for purity, love and bridal happiness that is in store for her and her future husband.
Brides should not despair over the selection, because here are some tips for choosing that perfect bridal gown.
Brides have many resources at their fingertips nowadays such as bridal magazines, bridal shops, bridal Websites and bridal fairs.
The important first step is to design a wedding budget and make a pact to stick to it. It is easy to succumb to all the advertising and wedding promotional making brides believe that they just have to have the latest style. Know your budget before you start looking at dresses.
Stay clear of those that are out of your reach financially so that temptation won’t rear its ugly head.
Make sure that when you are trying on gowns that someone is looking out for your back. Most brides forget that they even have a back to the gown so mesmerized are they with the front of the gown.
The truth is that most wedding guests will be looking at the bridal back, so make sure that the back of the wedding gown looks great too.
Make sure that you leave enough time to select, prepare, design, and order the wedding gown. You want to make time for alterations, and any needed changes so that all modifications can be made in time for the big day.
Above all make sure that the gown is comfortable to wear, as you will be nervous enough that day. You want to be comfortable as you experience the best day of your life. Make sure that you take into consideration the season the wedding will take place in when selecting the material for the dress.
You do not want to sweat during warmer weather and be chilly during the colder months.
The wedding dress should reflect the style, love and happiness of the couple and is often looked on as the centerpiece for the entire wedding.
